DUBAI/KARACHI – An Emirates SkyCargo Boeing 777 freighter travelling from Osaka to Dubai made a safe emergency landing at Karachi's Jinnah International Airport on Sunday after the crew reported a technical issue involving one of the aircraft's two engines.
The aircraft was diverted as a precaution and landed safely without any reported injuries or damage.
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) confirmed the development, while airport sources said the aircraft was undergoing technical inspection before continuing its journey.
Engine issue

In an official statement shared on social media, the authority said the aircraft landed safely at Karachi's Jinnah International Airport after the crew requested the diversion. The PAA confirmed that the flight was handled in accordance with standard safety procedures, with airport emergency services remaining on standby during the arrival.
Airport sources, quoted by local media, said the aircraft was parked after landing and was undergoing a detailed technical inspection to determine the nature of the fault. The inspection is focused on the reported engine-related indication that prompted the crew to divert the flight.
Technical checks
Sources further said the Boeing 777 freighter will remain at Karachi Airport until engineers complete the required examination and any necessary maintenance work. Once the aircraft is declared fully serviceable, it is expected to resume its journey to Dubai.
The Pakistan Airports Authority credited the flight crew for safely managing the situation and confirmed that the diversion and landing were completed without incident.
